Opportunity School is…
a nonprofit organization in Amarillo, Texas, created in 1969 by volunteers from First Presbyterian Church to address a community need – children who lacked basic learning skills and experiences entered school unprepared for academic achievement, and many never caught up to their peers. Opportunity School has been able to provide more than 3,600 young at-risk children with opportunities to learn and grow over the past 44 years.
Opportunity School provides…
high-quality, early childhood education and caring family support during the primary years – from birth to five – primarily to children from low-income families.
Opportunity School exists because…
research shows that high quality early learning experiences help children achieve success in school and in life.
“It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men. ”

Weather Related Closings:
Weather related closings - We generally follow AISD (www.amaisd.org) guidelines and if they close, we will close, but we could also decide to delay or close when AISD doesn't if we think it's too dangerous. We will report closures or delays on tv stations KAMR, KVII and KFDA and on KGNC radio - these are the only ones.
Central Campus buses do not run during inclement weather.
